A Ride for Baby Granton

Granton Bayless is a six month old little boy from Bolivar, Missouri. In March of 2008, Granton was diagnosed with Severe Combined Immunodeficiency (SCID.) SCID is a rare genetic disorder in which the immune system fails to develop. Granton is the light of his parents' life and has become the focus of prayer for a countless number of friends, family, and others. The financial strain on Granton's Mom and Dad has already been great and has only been overshadowed by the emotional strain they have felt over these last few weeks. On June 16th, 2008, I will set off on a five day, 330 mile solo bicycle ride to raise money for Granton's family. Your pledges will allow us all to attempt to help alleviate some of this financial strain. This Blog will let you know how you can contribute, as well as keeping you updated on the progress leading up to and during the ride.

Thank you for your support and Prayers,
Jayme Green

Riding out the storm

We're still here at the Bayless home waiting for the rain to move out of southern Kansas into Oklahoma. The sky is clearing up and we haven't seen any lightning for a while now so we should be on the road before long. I added a couple pictures to the site. The first is on the "Day One" post and is of Pastor Van Zile and myself outside the Church. The second on "Day Two" is Toby, Mr. Bayless and I posing next to Toby's truck with the Trusty Steed. I don't have the best expression on my face in this one but it's the only one we have with all three of us.

Jayme and Toby, We are reading your daily comments on your bike ride, and we are in awe of what you are accomplishing, both for money for little Granton, and the outpouring of Christian love you are experiencing and giving! We are praying for you daily as you ride for our little one!!!! Love, Uncle Jerry and Aunt Ellen Dougherty

It was great, passing you on 166 today just East of Tyro Christian Church where I had just dropped off my boys and 3 of their friends for Vacation Bible School. They are topping 500+ kids again. I was the one who honked at you in passing and waves. What strength you have for Granton and his family. Praise you and keep pushing ahead!!

Jayme we are so proud of you and thank God each day for such a loving and Christian son-in-law who truly lives a life devoted to sharing your God-given talents with others. We wish we could be there today for the celebration and parade, but you will be in our hearts and prayers. We are looking forward to hearing about your trip when you return. May God continue to bless your journey and keep you safe. Lots of love from Mary and Steve.
